Help Spare the Air this summer
 


April 2008

Summer is just around the corner and that means the start of another Spare the Air season in the Sacramento Region.

Beginning May 1, Spare The Air advisories will be issued when ground-level ozone pollution is forecast to be unhealthy. Our valley landscape and atmospheric conditions tend to trap gases like nitrogen oxides and volatile organic compounds (such as gasoline vapors), where the sun and heat "cook" them into lung-irritating ground-level ozone or "smog."

Simple actions can go a long way toward helping us prevent ozone, protecting both our health and economy. How to get involved...
